It takes up to 15kg I believe and mounts onto a seatpost. Whilst I appreciate it is not 100% ideal, it does do the job. It's also not too weighty.

If you want me to look exactly which one I bought, let me know and I'll check (it was about £27).
Thanks Dave, but I would not want to put that type of rack on a carbon frame as the tubes can be crushed quite easily. Hence looking for a suitable bike.

However all is not lost, I have a box and I can break the bike down and send it to you by courier on saturday, so would get to you by Monday? If I can't do that then get it couriered on Monday? But that's tricky as I don't know what my wife is working?

With the cost of fuel, this won't cost as much, although getting it collected on Saturday will cost a bit more. But it is less hassle than driving to meet you somewhere.

I'm working away until Thursday, which isn't helpful either

Let me know
Sending it Monday would be fine Richard, thank you. There may be a little more more time but I won't know more until the weekend because of how things are working out.

The reason it is all up in the air is that my lad is currently running a JOGLE but has injured his feet. Medical opinion is that he has crushed the fat pads in the soles of his feet and needs to stay off them for 3 weeks minimum and no running!! So he is thinking he may be able to cycle it and invited me to ride with him. I'd like to do it to help keep his spirits up as he feels he has failed his challenge, his sponsors and his Grandad who inspired the challenge. So because this is all reactive there is a bit of rush to try to come up with a new plan. Hopefully he can start cycling from JOG at the weekend and I'll meet up with him around Carlisle a week later.

Ok, I'll see if I can sort it out to send on Friday, or see what the cost of getting it picked up on Monday.

If I put the 10 speed STI's on it, which I have ready, then I could just send it without wheels, and you could use yours? Let me know mate, saves a little bit of hassle.

Yep I can use my wheels mate that would be no problem! Would it be Ok to put my cadence/speed sensor on it? Might mark the chainstay a little, so I'm asking. I'll use my Garmin if I can, but recharging may be an issue

I'm not worried about this bike mate, I'll try my best to get the 10 speed Sti's on, it shouldn't be a problem, but then getting it off to you might not happen until Tuesday.

But I'll get in on overnight delivery, so it'll be with you on Wednesday, if I can't get it off on Friday/Saturday.

Well I don't think I'll need it before the weekend of 13/14th so no need to bust a gut buddy. I can get it sorted in a few hours and a shakedown ride easily in a day.

Thank you so much for this.

Excellent mate, gives me more time to get the 10 speed on it, so I don't have to send it with the wheels.

You're still at your old address and telephone number?

Well I've gone and done it! Entered for my first ever competitive cycling challenge an evening 10 this Wednesday...

If anyone's got any useful advice please feel free to comment..

I'll be happy with anything sub 30 mins, the hall of shame will be on Strava as usual...

Yes, make sure you've warmed up properly and ride it flat out, and make sure you've given it all your energy when you reach the finish.

Its only a 10 so no need to think about saving energy for the finish.

Enjoy it, and don't take it seriously, its just for fun.

Don't worry about being caught, just ride your own race.
