Super...It is really odd how we europeans really give Nicky Hayden a hard time. Our cousins in the States cite his consistancy since joining the Moto GP ranks and the fact that he has always been on the lesser machine whilst with Repsol...that is up to this season. Now he really has a point to prove to HRC. I personally think 2 or 3 race wins will see him offered the 800cc ride with them next year. If not he will go to join Valentino if he stays with Yamaha as Rossi and his crew rate Hayden very highly apparently.

Flying in the face of your "one hit wonder" theory, who else out there would Yamaha consider then? Who else has a creditable number of wins? Colin will be off for one last big pay cheque in WSB before retiring so who goes to Yamaha if not Nicky?

So you rate Dovizioso above Lorenzo? He is good I doubt that not for one second. But your forgetting the politics mate! Fortuna is Spanish hence for them to have a dream team of 2 young Spanish riders will be too much to ignore.

I like your 750cc theory too! Especially when a certain red team have a 750 also!

Suzuki and their pneumatic valves? Pah! Ducati are still using the desmo's in Moto GP and they date back more than El Boc! (Not sure if they will be able to cope with the revvier 800cc engines though? What you reckon?)

What about engine configurations for the 800cc class?

My guess is this:

Yamaha....Simple scale down of present IL4 with big bang firing.

Suzuki......Back to what it knows best....IL4 again with big bang.

Ducati.....V4.......with very high rev capability.

Honda......Switch to V4.

Kawasaki....Scale down of existing IL4 again with big bang

Ducati were trying to make an electronic valve system a few years ago but could'nt make it work. That would be the holy grail for the 800s,but who can develop it?

B.B.....Is there enough time for one of the factories to perfect that? I am sure that they will not be doing anything too revolutionary as they all want to be able to hit the ground running in 2007?

Honda may already have a high technology Vee 4 800, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a V5 or a V3 in their from one of the Jape manufacturers.

I think it's already been said around here before, but it seems like "all" Honda has to do is remove a cilinder of the 1000 V5 and presto, instant 800 V4... Of course it's not that simple, but...

I think YOU'RE forgetting Honda's power - "We decide who's gonna ride our bikes - NOT the sponsors" - if you doubt this, have a word with Sito Pons, Max Biaggi & Camel !! :P

But surely it'll be way too expensive for them to develop a V Twin that can be on equal terms with the Japanese ??

Maybe not Jordan, but Honda have been racing V4's for some time, NR750 (RC40) ring any bells ?
