That's fine then, with tri bars you'll knock loads off your time!

I presume the faster boys rode with tri bars.

There was some serious kit there, best time was 23.47 and a mate of mine came second at 24.05, he started 1 minute behind me and overtook within the first 2 miles!!!

Well there you go then, I don't know how much time you'll take off by using tri bars, but it will be significant in identical conditions.

You'll also know how to pace yourself better, but you'll always be chasing your tail, you get faster and reach a plateau until you do something else like buying a disc wheel or some other equipment.

What I don't understand is folk having all the kit for midweek club events, who never enter open time trials at the weekend

As you said Mav you're racing yourself, for me there's little point spending serious money, it's all just for fun

Yes, although it would be really funny to turn up on your bike with a full disc wheel at the back, deep section carbon front, tri bars, aero helemet ............ and panniers

Lol, always good to be a slight maverick when there's people around who take these things sooo seriously, there was one chap there on Wednesday night who I had to convince I was happy having a go with the mudguards on and he just could not get his head around it.

Next time will be a Boris bike....

Looks like I have some training to do....

My 10 mile ride this morning took 44 minutes. Stopped at a few traffic lights but plenty of work to be done.

But it is good fun!!

Rode llandegla today, on recommendation of my dad who also came along with his XC mate. 9 or so miles in all was well... then tom (the great) decided to pick a fight with the dirt and lost spectacularly.

All good fun though not sure the 2hrs riding was worth the 4 hours (2esch way) in the car, pretty sure I lost more weight sweating out in the car than I did on the circuit.
