Some on here know the 20 miles of motorcycle perfection that's called the A4212, from Bala to Trawsfynydd.

If you don't, google it

done it several times. Hated it, full of Police & camera's ......... and would be more than happy to do it again.

Nice one Ed.

But I'll raise you the 24 miles of the B6318 from Greenhead to Walwick. Its an old Roman road that runs parallel to Hadrian's Wall - pics to follow later today.

Mostly the main roads through the Dales, friend of mine lived in Hawes for a while. Maybe not as many caravans as the Lake District, but sat in plenty of queues of 40mph tourist traffic on various visits.

Ahh well, there lies your problem, you stuck to the main roads, they're not the best we have to offer! What a mean mate if he lived in Hawes and put you through that

They don't live there anymore, and most of the time it was in the car anyway, though still frustrating.

Most times I've ridden the Dales by bike it's been from South to North on the way to Scotland, starting in Colne, via Settle and ending in Kirby Stephen, that's a nice route.

well that would be then.
So you'll have never been up the likes of Kettlewell, or the Tan Hill pub, or Burnsall, Barden Scale....eee could go on forever with nice places to go. Its a big old place, which is nice to explore.

Depends what you want, some of best roads if you want to go mentally fast and scrape things around the bends can be a bit touristy, but not all.

Some of back roads are more fun... these it takes skill to carry speed on, not just liter bike and romper suit
