All I know is that all clocks quit running (or become inaccurate) if I am around them very much.
Cheap watches last no more than an hour or two, expensive ones usually 2 to 3 days.

i have a lovely gold Seiko dress watch that i would like to wear but i'm the same, new battery and its depleted by the end of the day. the only watch that i have ever been able to wear is an 80's Casio that lasted yeeeears.

Bibio, have you tried a Seiko kinetic. Every movement of your arm charges the battery so it shouldn't run out of charge, even on you. Lasts about 3 days when not worn but as soon as you wear it, it starts again. I've had mine about 11 years and only had to replace the battery once. I wear it every day.

Could also try a perpetual movement watch. No electronics, and its self winding through natural movement of the body.

Bill, Big Ben is simply a big bell housed in the Elizabeth tower of the houses of parliament. People tend to call the tower and or clock big Ben but the name was given to the great bell and misused. I doubt a bit of electrickory could stop a bell ringing if it is hit hard enough. So your head is safe for now.

As for executions at the tower the last happened in 1941 by firing squad.

I am worse with mechanical watches than I am with battery powered ones.

I've got a Seiko kinetic with the power saving option. If you don't wear it for a day it stops the hands to save power. When you pick it up again the hands whizz round to the correct position. It will keep the right time for several months in power saving mode.
