Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Slightly proud dad alert.
I'll share this in the photo a day thread too but it belongs in here for sure. My graduation day was in February - it was freezing on Brighton seafront that day. Brighton Poly (as it was called then) obviously forgot to book the venue in time so we had the ceremony nine months after we'd all left... Fast forward 26 years and I'm on Brighton seafront again for Monkey's graduation ceremony from Sussex Uni (much nicer place than my alma mater) yesterday and the weather was, well, a smidge warmer. It was a cracking day, great speech by the actor, comedian and Uni Chanceller Sanjeev Bhaskar, a few glasses of fizz, and then it was photo time. Two generations of Brighton-based graduates. Still makes me smile. Monkey got a better grade than me too which makes me smile all the more. IMG1 (1 of 1)-20 by Trevor Laight, on Flickr

That's a great pic Sir Trev, "slightly proud". I think that might be a little bit of an understatement
My smile for today (apart from being on holiday) is taking the dogs and daughters out for a nice long walk and mess around

Sir Trev you look very proud. You even put a little flag on your shoulder for the day!
I'm just pleased for the moment that I don't go to work until lunchtime. The downside is I'll be riding in full gear at midday to a meeting. I've already messaged ahead to make sure the AC is turned down. |

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
It's my manager's birthday but he wanted to keep it quiet.
His work mug has vanished so I bought him a new mug and his favourite peanut butter cups as a present. He thanked me but said he hoped I was the only one who had remembered. As each member of the department arrived they wished him a happy birthday. Then in the department meeting I surprised him with a big mojito cake. Finally we had company drinks tonight, at which the CEO stood on a chair and led 150 people in a singalong Happy Birthday while the boss mouthed to me 'you're sacked'. Low key.... Bikesafe today: Observer tells me if I turned up at a police training school for a 3 week course I wouldn't have too much bother passing it.. I may now use the "pass" for 10% off IAM/Rospa training
In the meantime, this Jack Daniels is going down like water |

So he's the almighty, and he thinks this gives him the right to queue jump for a manicure?
