I can appreciate that some people are out for a leisurely drive or on holiday but a lot of the traffic are people working, on their way to work or have various appointments. All you have to do is look in the mirror, see a long queue and pull in when convenient.

I try and pull in in the motorhome if I can - mainly because I feel uncomfortable if a queue builds begins to build up behind me, though sometimes it backfires when after pulling in another slow vehicle polls by with another long queue behind it!

Rule 196 of the highway code says they should. They can be pulled over and given a ticket for driving without due care, if only there were traffic police to enforce it.

It does happen, but I personally have only ever heard of one case. So it is not often it happens.

Today's mobile roadblock was a chap on a Vespa (or Lambretta) scooter, 50mph on the A442 causing a tailback of cars. I think he was flat out and riding in the middle of the lane but it's one of those roads that had very few straights and lots of double white lines. It didn't bother me as I was on the bike but you could sense the frustration of the cars following him.
