Your leg is not used to running, you just need to build up slowly and run on grass to begin with. you don't do any high impact sport so your joints will not be ready for that. Do more cycling first to build up your leg muscles, or try swimming - running is really bad for your legs in general, i now get cronic shin splints when I run from years of competitive running.

My leg muscles are alright, due to a bit of cycling, its more the impact that they aren't used to. I just don't know whether to keep trying to run and make my kneee worse or better as it gets used to it, or to stop. It first hurt when I ran a lot a few weeks ago (only hurt the day after but I could barely walk for three days). Now I didn't make it hurt too much, and its just about fine today. maybe it is getting used to it.

I have learnt the long and painful way. If it hurts, stop doing it. It hurts for a reason. Because of my ignorance of the issue, I was out of action for months. Go to the doc's.

I reckon its not natural to run on tarmac or concrete anyhow so I would stick to cycling. You go faster and further, so you see more interesting things and its fun.

That's very true, but the fitter you get, then you end up having to cycle for hours and tens of miles! I wanted immediate and hard core burn; I was sweating buckets after just 15 minutes last time. Cycling it will have to be though I reckon, as the knee probably is going to need a seriously long rest

I agree. It's also not natural to run wearing shoes either, it encourages you to run very differently compared to if you have bare feet.

I just think it's not natural.

Ground control to Major Tony. I saw you again on the road at midday today when all those helicopters were coming in and yet again you didn't see me!
