These higher powered models are designed for delivering stuff hence the extra grunt, but not speed.

I had a Bionx electric wheel that I fitted to our Bullitt cargo Bike when I used to use it for the school run when we lived in the city. We had to opt for the high torque version to be able to get the weight uphill. Still all the same regs with max speed and max 250w etc but was tuned for torque so the motor wouldn't burn out pushing 75kg extra load. Fairly old tech now but it was great. Got me, two toddlers and a weekly shop up some hills feeling like I was just riding a normal bike. Still hard work, but made it possible. A great tool to have in the city too to be able to use all the quiet cut throughs, cycle paths and park up right out side shops and be able to cart big loads home. I used to wheel it right into the kitchen with the weekly shop too and unload straight from the cargo box into the cupboards and fridge. ![]() |

If only more people used bikes like that to do the school run than their Chelsea tractors adam ef! Lovely piece of kit. Our town and city roads would be much nicer if there were a lot less cars

The sun is out, the wife has gone shopping with daughter and I have the whole day to myself. So camera is in the topbox and I'm off out exploring.

I think I'm weird.
Putting the winter lining in my jacket satisfies me. Chill in the air and clear blue skies. Bike cleaned, chain cleaned and lubed. Hmmm, heated bar grips. USB socket due to be delivered tomorrow. That's me ready for long winter rides then! |

I can relate to this. This is my favourite time of year if it stays dry. Cooler days with the sun still out and correct gear to stay toasty is really satisfying. |

Aye apart from the cold, the short days and the low blinding sun it's great

I said this time of year. Unfortunately this time of year is about to end when the clocks change, likely a temperature that gets properly cold instead of just cooler, and then the dampness and rain will kick in too. Not keen on all that. September, October are usually good though. I've often thought it's the rain and damp that makes the UK feel colder. I lived in New Jersey (USA) for a while and while the temperatures were way colder than it ever gets here in the winter, it was a dry cold that didn't work it's way into your bones. |

When doing a circular ride, start out West, then North/East/South - keep the sun on your back.
Just remember those coming towards you can't see a thing, but nowt new there then.
