Yes, does help to clear your mind

However I'd rather have gone out with a silly woman who doesn't understand how to change gear, to sitting in front of the Tv with a sore throat & feeling too carp to do anything else. Been like this on these last 2 glorious cycling days

I crashed whilst commuting home tonight, a dog ran into the road hitting my front wheel/fork. I managed to stay on (just) but the wheel is well mashed up. The dogs owners were happy to offer to pay the repairs so I am taking it to the workshop to get it checked out tomorrow. I hope it's just a new wheel, but it sure is gonna be expensive! I also have a witness from the car behind me who fortunately was looking and managed to avoid running into the back of me as I bucked and weaved to a halt!

Should I call the police or just get it repaired?

Don't think they'll be interested, as no one was injured. But you could call 101 and ask someone.

Front wheel won't be expensive, but check the downtube hasn't bent or creased. I ran into the back of a car on my paper round. Didn't think much of it, as I couldn't see any damage.

But a while later I kept braking and finding brick wall type braking effect, ie I went over the handlebars each time i braked really hard.

Turned out the downtube had creased, and the front wheel was much closer to the downtube. So much so, that when I braked hard, the front wheel touched the front downtube, giving me the instant retardation!

Like this one! See how close the front wheel is.

Get you LBS to check the frame

Only if its a steel or aluminium frame

Get the LBS to check the headset bearings whilst it's there, too

The cheapest front wheel I can find online is £219,sadly it wasn't a cheap one! Mavic Ksyrium Elite if anybody knows a cheaper place please please let me know.
Bike is at my preferred LBS, not actually that local to me but I trust their work and my bike was a reasonable cost so it needs to be in good order. They are checking forks etc...
Has made me think maybe to sell this one and purchase two mid range bikes so I always have a spare, maybe a summer/winter pair. I could probably sell this and still buy two 'other' bikes.
And whilst I am here...... anybody got a road bike for sale?

Blimey, commuting on Ksyrium Elites.

If it were me, I'd buy a pair of Mavic Askiums for commuting on, perfectly good wheels, robust and not expensive. You'll get a pair for the price of one Elite.

Keep the Ksyrium Elites for sunny days.

Keep the bike you've got & buy a lower spec one to commute on, you probably won't get enough to buy 2 midrange bikes, depending on what you've got now?

Thats for the Ksyrium Elite wheel Jabba, although I think it includes the Mavic tyre & inner tube.

Hmmm......... looks like i misread the post! Sorry guys!

Aksiums are good commuting wheels, but that pair of Shimano RS11 at about £130 look a good compromise.
