Re: "33bhp?" Yes "i dont believe you, I'll seize your bike and take you to court"
Sorry, just to clear this up. Are you 100% sure they were police officers? I can only read this thread for a few mins before I go off to college so I can't read every post

Re: "33bhp?" Yes "i dont believe you, I'll seize your bike and take you to court"
Personally I think everybody is getting a little excited over all this and jumping ahead of the game. I'm fairly sure the officers have exceeded their authority here but that's nothing new and unfortunate though it is the police do sometimes get it wrong. Because of this they are geared up to try and put right their wrongs but the initial problem is as always getting them to see it that way. I'm fairly confident that if the OP goes into the station, asks to speak to the duty Inspector, and explains his issues then things will start to get better for him. This is especially likely if he asks the right kind of questions, hence my prompts. Be calm, make it clear you are keeping notes of what is said to you, and don't argue with them. In 23 years I've never met an Inspector who has the bottle to back his officers once he knows he is on a sticky wicket.
All this talk of solicitors and such like is a little unnecessary. Let the dust settle, get your bike back, and then if you still feel so aggrieved that you want to take it further by all means get some legal advice. If the police still insist they are right and try to charge you with any offence then there will be plenty of time for you to get that advice later, with one caveat... If they want to interview you or ask you to sign anything then don't until you have spoken to a solicitor. ps: in Blacks would count as "in uniform" provided there was something clearly on display that said "Police". |

i had an 18 yr old mate of mine have his r1 seized by the police as he couldnt prove it was restricted there and then,
so it is something they do.... might be worth going in ebay and buying a 'replacement 33bhp restriction certificate' and just sticking it under the seat somehow, thats what i did with my last bike |

Surely the recovery cost would be borne by the police authority if it turns out all was well and no offence was committed?
But what the hell do I know? Speak to the lawyers and the helpful police bods on this site...
