Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
I got told off on an advanced taster ride for being lazy with my gears. When we stopped he asked if there was a problem with my gear shifter, I said no, its a v-twin and it will pull well from low. He did explain that if I needed to get out of trouble there would be a delay getting the power to sort myself out.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
I always used to keep revs low, but I find going a gear lower than I normally would recently has made the bike much better to handle, especially in corners as Chris mentioned.

The AL7 being a naked has lower gearing than the faired bikes so is always a bit more willing to pick up, also has a few more ponies. To me top speed is irrelevant because 70 is national speed limit, but acceleration is a different matter..

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Went out on my push bike for the first time since July 2016 when I pulled my bicep tendon, followed by unrelated ops and recovery. I took the dog (a Husky) as I always have. Boy was he happy, galloped along the cycle track at full pelt for almost a mile (I had the brake on slightly) before he slowed down to a lope / canter. Only did about half an hour as I'm really unfit of course. He remembered the commands better than me. Shouting Haw instead of Gee at a tee in the path caused a little upset that nearly had us in a heap.

I regularly take our dog out for run / rides on the local byways or the dramway near us. She loves it and it's the only way for me to be able to go fast enough to get any energy out of her... she's a two year old Collie. |
