Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Awesome story. Why can't we all get along like that? Does that mean that with all the bartering that money is the root of all evil?

Fabulous story Bill, very heartening to read. Shame so much of the rest of the world is so obsessed with personal profit and gain. Imagine what the world would look like if what you just saw operated on a global scale.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
The proper quote is that 'the love of money is the root of all evil' - money in itself is neither good or bad - yup bartering takes money out of the equation. Problem with money is that some people can get loads of it without doing very much and others work really hard and get very little, and money skews peoples values, because an idiot with money is still an idiot even though they think having money makes them somehow better than other people.. I guess we are stuck with money system though, even though it is nowhere near perfect.

Contented doggy snores coming up the stairs. They would rather be up here in the office with me, but Jemima's lack of a cruciate ligament means stairs are to be avoided. So they are happily snoozing on the sofas and the sound of that makes me smile.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Great idea isn't it Bill.
My brother in law is an electrician on tower blocks but absolutely definitely never does private work. He says his time off is too precious. Except when my living room light packed up he said he'd fix it in return for one of my big, takes 3 days to make, lasagnes. The idea being that he spent time on my light, but in return a few days later he could 'make a home made dinner' for his wife that wasn't beans on toast and only required him to switch on the oven. A fair exchange of labour, he got in the wife's good books, I didn't pay a fortune for a sparky. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
