Re: Vintage film cameras
Fixed the cough on the A1. Fairly straightforward armed with a syringe and some light oil. I then put the base plate screw into a winder location hole rather than the screw hole during reassembly. Could I get the damn thing out! Succeeded eventually. Light seals next.

Re: Vintage film cameras
My AE1 Program has a slight cough as well but I am not sure if I will fix it or not. I have a Cobra dedicated 300 flash for Pentax going spare if anyone is interested?

Re: Vintage film cameras
What causes the cough? I'm fine for flashes ta
Mamiya seller is offering a refund, just going through the motions now. Hopefully will cover the postage etc. too. I don't think any of them want an ebay case against them on their record. Last edited by johnnyrod; 31-07-17 at 01:44 PM. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
The cough is the mirror damper mech. I guess it dries out and just needs some lubrication. I just followed a how to on YouTube. It's the same process on all the A series cameras.
New foam is now in place including the bit that sits along the top of the mirror box. That's quietened down the mirror too.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I didn't use this method to access the damper but there's some good close up shots of the mechanism

Re: Vintage film cameras
Finished printing the film slitter last night so I can now cut 35mm down to 16mm for the Minolta 16 cameras I have. Should be able to get two loads out of one roll of Agfa Vista.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Interesting. I guess the black thing is the blade.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Sorry for the late reply, but yes, those are the blades. I tried loading it tonight but I have misplaced one of the 16mm carts and the other one I couldn't get to stick. Wasted one roll. On the plus side, I found three more rolls of AV200.
Seems like the DF bundle is a bit of a let down. The 28mm lens has fungus and the zoom has some lens separation. The body is basically an X300S so lots of plastic.
