Re: Win10
son #1 upgraded to 10 and had a few problems. i think i'll stick with 7 for a we while longer as it suits my purposes just fine. took me till last year to upgrade to win7 from the first launch of XP. i loved XP and never had any problems but wanted 64bit system so win7pro it was, it runs all my older programs just fine.
ooohhh and Microsoft are not know for giving things away for free so they must be up to something that wont be known till later on. Last edited by Bibio; 03-08-15 at 03:11 PM. |

Re: Win10
Yep, I'm resisting to make the change, I might do it on the media centre PC, as its not the main PC.
Good to try it as the guinea pig, or the old laptop

Re: Win10
Well I have my Win10 icon in the corner now. Been hearing a lot of reviews saying NOT to upgrade.

Re: Win10
windows 8 and windows 10 dont have the media pack built in like windows 7. You can download it but Im not sure the support for tuners etc.
Windows 8 for all its faults was great on the ms surface in retrosprect. I have had more blue screens since upgrading than 8 and it runs slower and to use the keyboard on a ms surface I have to switch it to desktop mode. How daft.. it does make the table run like a pc which isnt always a good thing.

Re: Win10
Second time rebooting and an OS error appeared meaning I had to install it again, luckily I'd made an install USB drive when I upgraded yesterday. Lost a few things I hadn't backed up though

Re: Win10
Had Windows 10 on both of my computers for the last four days and it has been running flawlessly. Quick, nice clean interface, rapid boot times too. Very pleased.

Re: Win10
Me too on my home PC! It still works (just!) but I have been thinking of upgrading the old PC for something newer. I was thinking I might just try Windows 7 because all the work PCs are on it.... Now it looks like Win 10 if I get a new machine, so I'll wait for the dust to settle for some of the kinks to be ironed out.

Win10
Upgrades to Win 10 on 29 July. Not a single problem since.
Come to think of it I haven't used the laptop since then. |

Re: Win10
Up graded a couple of days ago. Can see no advantages at all. It may be faster on the stop watch but not noticeable in real time. I have spent FAR FAR to much of my life getting it how I want it. Even simple things like getting the file explorer the start at my PC instead of the default frequently used (which doesn't work as it doesn't go to my PC) is a real chore. Cannot get it to communicate with the Garmin via the plug in so I cannot load geocaches to any Garmin, even after reverting to I.E. Time to go back I think. You have 1 month to go back after install to revert.

Re: Win10
From all I've read in the PC magazines I get, I'll be holding back on installing it until Windows 7 stops being supported
