Re: End of the Euro..............
I forgot to mention Jaguar Landrover.
While not wishing to pour cold water on anyone who provides employment for british workers the problem is that much of the proceeds and profits still go abroad because these companies are all foriegn owned.Jag is Indian now of course.Just being someone elses offshore production line wont be enough to save our economy. As a certain economist once said, its all about who owns the means of production.

Re: End of the Euro..............
When it comes to British manufacturing, the fact that Toyota and Honda are top quality cars, whilst Land Rover are bottom quality cars, just shows there is nothing wrong with Britain's ability to manufacture a quality product, there is only a problem with British ownership, management and customer service.

Re: End of the Euro..............
Not read the thread too deeply - i just want to know when the euro is going to crash so i can not have to pay £8bn for a pint and £54bn for a lasagne on the slopes on my upcoming ski hol. If the whole area is in so much doodoo why does the rate not come down. back to 2.5 -1 in time for january please

Think Bike-Think Bike-Think Triumph
Britian may not be the best at producing goods but do not belittle our design and engineering skills------I think F1 is a good example of that and I do think that we could survive without the Euro Zone, what ever happened to the promised referendum on our membership. Yes,I am fed up give money to foriegn causes when we need it at home. |

" why does the rate not come down. "
'cos, in the grand scheme of things, we are sinking as fast as 'they' are?

Re: End of the Euro..............
Another problem is that interest rates are to low, people always assume that low interest rates are good for people as its cheaper to borrow money etc. This may be true in a certain sense and for a limited time period but ultimately it causes massive inflation as there is more money available to people.
Look how much energy and food have gone up in the past 5 years So yeah low interest rates may mean you get a lower % on your mortgage however the purchase price of the house is going to be higher along with everything else you buy. |

Disagree. It's looking like the best thing that could possibly happen to the EU in ages. There will be pain from it's demise no question, but the beast must die, it's disgustingly corrupt and does not function for the benefit of anyone except Eurocrats. Fiscal union is a truly ludicrous idea, and it's not designed or intended to make things better for you in any way at all, it's a tool of political control constructed to allow the unelected to command centrally, and billions of your money could be spent by this filth in an attempt to keep them at the top of the pile, it must end. Now.

I think the euro has had its innings now. It's boring, especially when irrelevant and impractical legislation starts creeping onto our soil from some of these continental loonies. Bring back the drachma and the days of a meal that cost 20p
