I reserved a new rear shock by phone today, taken off an 09 plate ZX10R, collecting it on Monday. 8mm longer than the SV shock with a spring rate of 9.1, compared to the current 7.7, and adjustable for everything. Think I'll be asking for John's recommendations on rebound and high & low speed compression damping though, because I wouldn't have a clue. Preload and ride height also adjustable, but I can cope with that.
Is the Zx shock easy to fit?
Would my forks have to come off completely or can they be done insitu?

I have no idea yet. The shock is easy to remove and refit, but a ZX10R shock has a reservoir that there might not be room for, meaning I have to cut the battery box, and I'm not 100% sure what you do with the battery after that. But plenty of people have done it, so I'll find a way (I hope!).

The forks need to come off as there is no drain bolts at the bottom of the forks, so you need to turn them upside down and pump them to get the old oil out, but removal and refitting is a 1/2 hour job each, which we would do at the same time as your nose.

Going from Evesham to Broadway if you are heading into the cotswolds. Only four bends, but steep as hell. Last corner is the worst, really tightens up, so need to take it steady.

I've just broken my sat nav suction mount. It goes on the rev counter on the SV, but not possible on the XT. I found a flat part of the tank on the XT it would stick to nicely, but as I twisted it round so the Sat Nav was the right way up, SNAP! At least now I have and excuse to cut and modify it into a handlebar mount, lets see how it's fitted come tomorrow

If that doesn't work and we don't have satnav, then I am happy to lead the Alcester - Pershore - Evesham - Fish Hill sections.....providing someone is happy doing the other bits......as I know them off by heart anyway.

I will send Specialone & Ralph my mobile now, will message in the morning, say about 11am if gonna come or not. All depends on the weather.
