Oops, sorry about the duff directions! Mike is Luckypants and another Welsh speaker. I was after him to confirm or correct the translation.

Sorry, nothing quite so pretty Gary. "Clogwyn" = cliff, "y carreg" = the stone. Stonecliff is probably a closer translation.

Thanks Mike. The benefits of being a first language Welsh speaker rather than, as in my case, a rather poor learner!

Not a first language speaker Gary. I'm a bit of a halfway house, my Dad was first language Welsh and I spoke Welsh with friends at school but my mum was English so first language was English. After moving back to Wales in 2001, I took lessons to get me back into Welsh speaking, but not a massive call for it in the village.

I try to keep up, but my fluency is gone.

I have a similar problem here Mike. Our village has almost emptied of Welsh speakers and filled up with a large number of retired incomers who make no effort even with place names. There are very few of us with any Welsh language here now. Two original households and my daughters are the only properly fluent speakers here. Makes me very sad as it's so much more than just a language.

Here's an oldie from back in June 2009 when I was still riding my lovely little 400 Gixer. Any guesses on location?
