I do agree that this one has really caught the interest of many. It's obviously not going to be for everyone but that was never what the original idea was all about anyway.

Let's crack on I say! Especially as I am now a full week in to my Linguaphone course of "Learn Yorkshire in a month."

So I reckon I'll si the there me old whippet!

As my mother was a trophy collected on a raid. (Dad reckons he was captured and tortured into marriage, so that they could get rid of her) I learnt to speak tyke as a child.

I can therefore give you a few easy to learn phrases that may help you to pass as a local.

1). Ow Much!. Tha can put that back.
2). As tha got sum cheese fer me fruit cak
3). Real Tetleys, not That Warrington crap.
4). Got it from leeds market.


Remember that them far flung bit, are the east, north and south ridings. and not counties in their own right. Bit like Greater Manchester (What is so great?), Mersyside etc. are the bits of Lancashire that we didn't really want.
