Oh what wonderful aeoplanes! My second love after motorcycles - something I inherited from dear Papa who was a pilot in the RAF (as, indeed, later was I).
After the war, the Jessop Family Trust managed to acquire two of the types he flew, with the intention of setting up a small museum. Alas, they are now both gone, but they were kept for a long time in our paddock. In those hot summer months, people would often pass by as the gamine young thing that I was sunbathed on the wings, and shout out things like: "Camilla, what a smashing pair of Bristols you have." It was lovely to know that there were so many aviation enthusiasts in the area. |
