Sorry to hear this but not unexpected. Your warranty is still valid of course but simply won't cover your engine/gearbox. A replacement engine should set you back £400-500 plus fitting (£150?). Certainly a lot cheaper than 2.5k for a brand new one.

Bad luck.

I'm struggling with the £6K though? How do you get to £6K?

Nothing like a bit of wifely sympathy

For fitting, if it comes to it call one of the bike transport companies and get it run up to me, I'll do it... Though I'm sure you could find skilled help close to home.

there is oil pressure as long as the oil pickup is still picking up oil, and you barely need 1/2 litre of oil for that to happen, the oil pressure light doesn't go on till your about 2 litres low

Might I just add to Randy's post that with the oil that low there may be just enough pressure to put the light out, but that can't be considered anywhere near enough even if the bike was used very carefully.

Thanks all for the comments,

I may have sourced an engine. I now have the pleasure of paying George Whites in Slough £75 labour for taking the engine apart.

Nagai wants me to bring the old engine home as he wants to see what a mess I made of it

The 6k figure I came up with, is all the extras and so on and so forth I have purchased, things like DB screen, heated grips, exhaust through to leathers..(Women add these things up in an instant ).

The blue cow is still "resting" at George Whites, they've given me a price of £300 to fit and do a full service on the "New " engine before putting it on the girl.
This includes the £75 for stripping down the original fooked engine.

Nagai thinks it's a good price, and I feel comfortable for these boys to do it, they did try and blag it with Suzuki for a warranty jobby on the fooked engine, but the Suzuki bloke was having none of it...ahh well it was worth a try.

Something interesting for you lot though, was a quote by the Suzuki blokey, who told myself and George Whites that "A typical SV650 engine, is allowed to use up 1litre of oil per 1k miles?

Feel free to leave your comments on the above, but thanks all for the words of wisdom, and on this next engine, I WILL BE CHECKING THE OIL REGULARLY". As I have officially taken the mantel off Nagai as "Wear em out wilf"..bugga

Sounds like a resonable price to me, especially if it includes a service.
