No dizzy I would not, they are not who any of this is aimed at.

I think its all about those people who from about age 13 are looking forward to signing on and sitting back to live off the state.

Of course any person who is used to working would do so

Its the whole unemployed bashing that gets me. I'm afraid I'm with Bib and Gid on this.
I'm sure if any of those that come to these discussions with the usual statements of 'washing stones', certainly wouldn't be throwing those phrases around if that particular boot was on their foot

No, I'd be too busy... Washing stones.

To be honest if they gave you a pressure washer it would be quite fun. I've done it with a brush and cleaning fluid before and that was tiresome, especially at this time of year.

But I guess all these hypothetical unemployed are just better and grander than me and it would be beneath such noble fellows.

I've been on the nash a number of times, but always tried and succeeded to get back into the work game. It's a great fallback plan and should always be used as soon as the **** hits the fan. Pride counts for nowt when you can't eat.

I think in your example the person would try their level best to get back into work and succeed as quickly as was possible. I'm not bashing the unemployed, just the lazy leeches who only know how to take.

things are a joke.I am allowed £71.00 a week income support to live on .I receive £51.oo a week for caring for my son. What do they do .....take £51.00 from my income support. Then for some reason ,they give me £20.00 back as a bonus.
Dont get me wrong ,when you add up dissability living allowance , child tax boost for having a disabled child and a few other bits for my son Im actually £50 a week better off than when working.
I hate not working so I looked into going to collage while my son was at school ,but was told "oh you cant do that" .Why the hell not ,its not as if Im caring for him during those hours anyway.

most people will do what it takes to feed their family and i know i have. from collar and tie to wellies and shizz i've had a few jobs in my time but i have never grudged paying into the system to keep the unemployed. in fact far from it as it's one less candidate going for a job i might.

Ok, I'll put it another way. I've never been very good at hypothetics.

Define unemployable/long term unemployed. For the benefit of the bill announced in parliament.

How can you define who should have vouchers, as they are unfit to have money to use how they wish. If the vouchers are to be intended for all on long term, isn't this a little unfair, all because of a stereotype?

Spotty Oik? As his eyes are too close together. Has a Staff and likes TV. Young inexperienced, is eager to work, but just doesn't 'look right'

Mother of two, whose lost her partner, trying to make ends meet, whose always been at home playing mum, while the fella went to work? Can't get a job because of the above? Likes a smoke

50 year old fella, quite good at accounting, as he has a family and knows how to knuckle down when the chips are down? Over qualfied, can't back into employment after 30 yrs in the same place, spends his days going out in his car mailshotting companies further afield than the other two? Likes a whisky.

Under this proposed voucher scheme, all of the above are tarred with the same stereotypical brush.

I feel its a voting tactic, just the same as the Miliband speech on imigration and the English language last week. This time the Torys are at it, by hitting the nerve of the public who are high and mighty about people on benefits. i'm sure there will be more stupid proposals in the run up to re-elections next year. All designed to kick up a stir amongst the public.

To be honest, i'm just being a **** really. In real life it can't work, ever. All of the examples you have stated are reason as to why. On the radio earlier today they were selling the idea as a credit card type of thing that you could use for any essential life items anywhere. But not Booze, tabs and sky tv!!

The idea is clearly to pin down a tiny tiny tiny minority of people who are playing the system, having loads of kids, claiming as much as they can and basically almost abandoning them to the state. It can't work really and would never be a vote winner for me. Unemployment is as insignificant as the immigration thing they bring up all the time. The country isn't wrecked cos of doleites, it's wrecked cos everyone got greedy and no one said no. But the easy targets are always blamed for everything.
