I'm a new(ish) rider (massive two weeks now) as well and stumbled into SV territory searching for Bandit! The things that put me off Bandits were the Pikey Courier image and revving the nuts it to make it get a shift on.
What I loved about the SV was how sympathetic to a novice rider they are and the hooligan V-twin - you dont get that on a IL4 and I tried a few before going twin.

+1 I did and never looked back, much lighter and more torque for the grin factor

Ugly
Heavy
Too many cylinders
Its a Bandit

Get and SV until you feel confident enough to get a Falco.

reeto supervix. won't go far wrong wit sv. not the easiest bike to ride thanos but much more enjoyable jaunt.
