I wear proper gear all the time but I would never make a fuss about people wearing t-shirt and shorts on a bike. A bit daft? yes, perhaps; but don't look at them and automatically assume that's how they always ride their bike. They could be just popping around the block to dry their bike out, post a letter etc. Just keep your eye on the road and stop being such old women

Been there, got the T Shirt (excuse the pun), no skin down the right side of my body, from my right tit to the outer ball of my foot. Some daft old woman in a Nissan Micra pulled out on me.

It healed, still ride in jeans when it suits me, and I know only too well to take extra care.

Why does everybody seem to care so much what other folk wear on thier bikes? If I want to be preached at I'll go and see an evangelist.

So don't preach, we are all entitled to our views here and have given them, if you can't handle it don't read em.

There's a difference between giving your opinion and preaching.

I haven't told anyone else what to do, said anyone elses opinion is wrong, or passed judgement on anyone else. I've only given my opinion and told other people what I do. I love reading other peoples opinions and I love debate, which is why I'm here.

I do get a bit jerked off with a whole thread of folk telling others that they are stupid and wouldn't do what they do if they knew what grazed skin was like. I don't mind admitting that and don't apologise for it.

So why do you insist on suggesting that any views that aren't similar to yours are stupid, uninformed or wrong?

The best post here.

Personal choice, I wouldnt do it, others do, I dont care.

Put it another way, I ride my pedal bike on the flat at around 20mph, if I launch myself down a particualrly steep hill I can clock anywhere between 40 - 50mph. I do this whilst wearing shorts and a t-shirt and a helmet.

Whats the difference between doing it on a pedal bike or a motorbike... none results are the same, one seems to be socially acceptable the other doesnt. Weird eyh..

If you saw me in Lycra shorts it probably wouldn't be socially acceptable, but was the same point I was trying to make. I wear appropriate gear now when possible, and as long as people are aware of the risks that's their choice. I was not aware when younger of the need for protective gear other than a cheap helmet, and the CBT is slightly better trying to get this across. I would try to make a comment to another biker if I thought they were putting themselves at risk due to poor protection. I love my draggin' combats, very comfortable/warm - good enough compromise for me as I don't want to wear armour/leathers all the time.
