Under my seat there is an undertray. Under that there is a wheel. Under that there is the floor.
That is all. |

I view the AA as a last resort for recovery when I can't fix something rather than as the first port of call. Given your mechanical aptitude, I'm surprised you don't carry more. Do you use the space for carrying other stuff, sandwiches, etc? Bear in mind 90%+ of the time I have at least one bit of soft luggage on the bike, usually a Kriega US-10, I can put other things I need more frequently in that. In terms of weight it can't be more than 1.5kg tops and it's fairly evenly distributed around the bike. I've packed it so it doesn't rattle and unless I'm looking for something, I'm not even aware that it's there, so really can't see any downside to carrying it all. |

This thread has spurred me into action. I'm on a mission to see how much useful kit I can get under my seat. Assembling my 'bikers survival kit' at the moment.
I'll let you all know the results. |

In the last 15 years I've only needed to use Aunty Carole's breakdown service when the bike has either been crashed or has gone terminal on me. Either way I was never going to fix it at the roadside unless I was carrying a spare engine or forks and the contents of my Snap-On toolchests under the seat. |
