I'm sorry, but I have to take issue with this... If somebody asked me for a Roll & Sausage, that's what they'd get - a roll, and a sausage - seperately!

Would people ask for a Toastie & Cheese & Ham?

What happens if you want more than one filling on said roll? Surely you don't ask for a roll and bacon and egg and tattie scone and sauce?!?

It's madness, Glasgow madness & I simply won't stand for it!

Anyway, as you were!

I'll eat it whatever it's called by the way!

KG has just asked how many people my YH Membership is valid for.
I have a family and friends membership valid for 9 persons providing the bookings are made by me
On previous tours I have pre-booked all accommodation and been paid by the individuals concerned.I normally book a month in advance and arrange the payment from each person by a convenient method for both parties
i.e. Full tour,9nights,after the booking has been made as it is quite a bit of outlay
or if only a couple of nights cash when we meet up
ALL BOOKINGS HAVE TO BE PAID FOR ONCE ARRANGED as no cancellation policy exists

Alternatively you can contact the YH yourself, making your own bookings and payments
just my having the card saves individuals having to buy membership

cant find your tshirt thread mac??

Also for anyone thats interested ther is a slight change of plan, here is a extact of my post in the essex lounge that has a rough route plan, which is my opinion only not approved by the mighty DT whose trip this is.

I've had a wee look at the maps and hope this looks reasonable. Didn't know how many or few places you plan to incorporate within the trip so kept it quite simple and you can play with to your hearts content. Ullapool to Aviemore (Thursday, right?) for example is only 90 miles, if this is your plan i may do this which is 300 miles so quite a big day but manageable, i think.
I haven't routed the skye trip as i dont know your preferences, however i'm assuming Talisker. If so i'd throw into the hat that it may be worth pillioning up that day to let some sample more than others (or perhaps a car hire (or loan from haggis) I would have suggested applecross for dinner but its probably a bit far to ride for a meal (50miles but probably 1.1/2 - 2hrs)

Saturday the 20th Melrose to Oban, I've routed through a quaint wee place know as Stirling, Tiger55 could also meet there for the run to Oban if he was planning to go up on the Saturday (cant remember his schedule) Adds more time than distance but much better route than sitting on motorway for mile after mile.

The run from Aviemore to stirling i've played with a bit to incorporate some of the better roads including the Falls o' Dochart and the Dukes pass. However I probably wont do that route as i've to get home, sorted and up to tyndrum for the massacre that night.

Just browsing this thread.... and then my name popped up. Timing, eh!

My tuppence worth, disregard it at will.

The original Ullapool-Aviemore section, I agree that it's a bit short for a day's progress. No more than 2 hrs max, even with some photo/fuel stops. KG- Your amended run across the north coast- Wow, thats a major detour. These roads are seriously desolate mate, and to do that lot in a day would be dedication indeed to motorcycling. It's certainly do-able, but perhaps by the end you'd be ready to collapse in a heap of leathers.

We did Ullapool to Thurso by that route in the car last year, and honestly, that nearly had us beat! It's so twisty, following the coast mostly you feel like you're getting nowhere fast. I'd be inclined to head north from Ullapool, then cut across at Laxford Bridge, Lairg, Bonar Bridge, then use the back road to Alness - the B9176 -it's short but a cracker. From there, join the A9 for the last 40-odd miles. I'd say 4hrs with stops.

If you really wanted to do a bit more of North coast, add an hour for the section up from Laxford to Tongue, rejoin at Lairg and follow above from there. It's your tour though guys, and your sore bum at stake.

I'll see what I can do re. car run to Talisker nearer the time. You'll be kipping in Broadford, right? So I'm guessing a late afternoon trip is your thinking. Shouldn't be a problem for me.
