not much to add to this, great advice already. My only bit is from my only minor of my run, not pulling into the box on traffic lights before the filter light for my direction lit, I was sat there and ended up a with a voice in my ear that sounded fed up heh whoops
but from then on I was fine as I thought I had screwed it up, had the widest road I'd ever seen for my uturn and my hill start was on a road I'm sure must have been a 1 in 300 (or it seemed like it compared to what I was used to)

If you remember even half of the advice given I'm sure you won't go far wrong. Best of luck! keep us posted.

I failed my first test on something stupid so big tip - if you are commited to go in a direction then go there, dont change your mind.

I did a perfect run but failed cos at the first roundabout i misunderstood his directions and thought i was turning right 2nd exit. So i indicated right and it was only when i got to the roundabout i realised the 2nd exit was actually straight on.

So what i SHOULD have done (and the examiner told me this) was plead ignorance and head right to the 3rd exit as i'd originally planned but instead i saw it was clear so indicated left and came off the roundabout. He failed me because he said as i'd approached the roundabout with my right indicator on it could have mislead a motorist behind me (even thought there was nothing behind, ah well). Gutted.

Rode worse on the 2nd test as i was more nervous but passed with 1 minor. First test was a clean sheet with one major. Sob.

I think you can do almost anything you like as long as you dont put your foot down on the u-turn, although I can understand why as it demonstrates good clutch/brake/throttle control which takes a good few days on the bike and isn't something you can learn easily in a couple of lessons.
Speaking to others who have failed it is either that or failing to cancel indicators.

I was doing a practice the other night and I did that on a pretty busy round-a-bout, they'd rather have you do it safely than do it totally wrong and put yourself at risk.

Not going to happen. They won't make allowances like that.

If you drift over the limit by a couple of miles an hour, you will be ok as long as you spot it quickly and back off. Do it a couple of times and you'll get a driver fault. Do it consistently (or stupidly fast) and it becomes a serious fault.

With regard to going too slow, this does NOT mean you have to be at the limit all the time. You can get a serious fault for going FAR too slow (50 on an empty NSL dual carriageway for example) but doing a consistent 28/29 in town won't be a problem.

footdown on uturns is indeed a fail

oh and like durbs, if you have any doubts at all about which way the examiner has said to go, you are well within your rights to go the way you think is right - so long as you carry out all the manouvres with safety checks and indication - then if the examiner asks why you went the wrong way, you can say the comms failed "bad signal" or "fuzzy static" etc... they can't fail you for the comms being unreliable
