Yup £89 or £109 for over 25's
I guess different groups are different - our group has never paid anything to the observers (they were thinking of bringing it in but nothing happened)
The following years after you pass your test was about £30 p.a. but that is going up as well.

during test they will ask you to explain the system.

I was a qualified observer with the glasgow north group. I joined 6 weeks after passing das and found them invaluable. My riding came on much quicker than if I had just gone out myself. Most of the observers rode really well and were down to earth but you will always find a santimonious ar se in any group.

Im not the fastest rider but I feel confident riding new roads as I read the road (which they taught me) and enjoy bendy wee roads (really miss the wibbly wobbly road).

Ouch, thats alot of money, but not knowing what IAM is really about, what does one get for that ? I

Also as alluded to above, I've met a couple of snooty IAM instructors, I listend to one examiner talk to his pupil about what he carried in his toolkit for nearly 20 minutes at Podimore services, it bored the sh*t out of me, all that and they hadnt even got on their bikes to start riding.

Balls better read that book they sent me! If it was a bikers group I'd probably have the motivation to do it, but car driving is a bit of a chore I do it all day.

Roads I don't know are my real weak point I have a problem reading the road and tend to go into corners I don't know too slow forgetting that a bike can lean.

The insurance co. asks if you are a member? - you reply with your fingers crossed - "yeah, (an Associate member *cough)" That's what I did

Yes, if you don't know what it is!
But you probaby do if you've been through the training/
IPSGA is the system to deal with any hazard.
Information
Position
Speed
Gear
Acceleration.

I bet my house Lozzo uses the system everytime he rides almost all of the time, he just doesn't consider that he is following a rigid set of rules but he is thinking for hmself, which is exactly what IAM wants - thinking riders.
