Supermotos and sports bikes are always an interesting mix due to their relative strengths and the riding styles they attract. In our fast group the National/International riders that were there getting some practice for the forthcoming round being held at Lydden were easily the quickest things on track, especially into the Elbow and the Hairpin, however they were reasonably easy pickings for us sports bike riders on the run out of Chessons or down into Paddock. The problem for the sports bike riders (and for the Moto riders as well) is their way past is to stuff you on the brakes, sometimes from quite a long way back, which can lead to some close calls if you're not expecting it. It's very tempting to blast past them on the next straight but if they were quick enough catch you in the first place then generally best to let them go, they'll only do you harder and closer next time (says he who rides a Moto as well!!) It probably wasn't the brightest of ideas putting such a mix in the Novice groups, and given they were running two such groups you would have thought they'd put all the Motos together. I think the people running Lydden now are relatively new at it, perhaps a word is needed.

this is a problem i have noticed a bit at lydden and other tracks, but more so at lydden. you would think it would be in their best interests to keep a proper eye on how much quicker some people are in the novice group and move them as required.

I think Lydden lends itself to the Motos a bit more so they are nearer in lap times.
I do think there were a few riders in the Novice group that weren't exactly novices, I suspect some of them were just doing their first track day of the year rather than their first ever, and just thought they would play it safe. Organisers should have stepped in and moved them up, there was plenty of space in the Inters and Adv.

Ill have a dig as i may have some other shots that i didn't put up

Was that you with the two Huskys? You've a beautiful pair if you don't mind me saying so! Especially liked the red panniers, someone said they had weights in for training, or was it just your camera gear? My other bike was the black GSXR, with orange wheels.

Speaking of beautiful things at Lydden did anyone else see/hear that RG500 special...what a bike, even if i dare say so on an SV forum.

I saw him/her get a bollocking for riding towards the track whilst trying to fix a problem.

I've never ridden one but it was pretty special. Loved the gixxer fairings on it!
