Wait till you see the next version of the test:

-Mandatory knee down to prove you can corner.
-Stoppie to show you can brake hard.
-Holding the bike on balance point whilst wheelieing to illustrate clutch control.

Prior to the above, which will be tested on the road, there will also be an "off road" section on special purpose-built sites, of which there are sadly only a couple of dozen in the UK, so learners in rural areas may have to travel some distance. You must position in the top 3 against 16 other hopefuls before you are allowed out on the road.

I have to agree with Tim. The whole point of the new test is to produce safer riders and reduce casualties. How many riders died last year as a result of putting their feet down at slow speeds?

Doesn't exactly look hard....the U turn looks easier, still wouldnt want to pay an extra 20 quid for that.

I thought it was the same price.
£50 for the road, £30 for the car park.
It used to be just £80 AFAIK for the old test

I guess if you fail then you shouldn't be on the road, but it doesn't look like a walk in the park. I saw it being demonstrated by Craig Jones (stunt rider not late racer) last year and it looks like there is potential for mistakes all over and very tight. No outside influences though, but you still have that to deal with on the road part.

I agree that it should be done in 2 stages, with a pass in the cone part being required before going on to the road part, and a fail in the road part only meaning you have to retake the road part. It would surely make logistical sense too.

Edit: apparently you can do it that way?

Good info here http://www.camrider.com/2008test/200...ycle-test.html

Yeah £60 for mine the other year too.

I'm not sure about the bit where if you fail the road part you ahve to retake both? I thought the stage 1 pass was retained even if you failed the road part.

Seems like a load of hoops to jump through which will do no good to a rider on the road.

It's all stuff i did on my CBT and nailed it the first time around. Anyone at the stage where theyre taking the test should have no problem doing it properly.
