Statistically there is probably a hell of alot more 'sports bikes' on the road than any other.

The definition of sports bike to the masses and people who magic these figures up.....they range from a fully faired SV entry level sports bike to an RC8

I took my wife on my bike a few months ago after she kept going on and on about it. thankfully she grew up around bikes as her brother, mum and dad all ride them.

I had never taken a pillion before then but she knew what was expected of her.

I was worried at first asking her where she was going to hold onto - grab rail or around my waist. Ended up she just sat their with her hands on her knees very relaxed.

I think I was more worried about the responsibility with having both of us on the bike. We only went out for about half an hour and I have to admit we both enjoyed it.

Every time I start my bike up now my kids have to sit on it and give a few revs before i leave. My daughter aged 6 keeps asking me to take her on the bike but she knows that she is too young and can't wait til she is old enough to go out on it.

Shopping in HG today for gear so hoping it works out
best thing i purchased was a nice set of "love handles".
Just clip them round your waist and the pillion had some perfectly placed handles to hold onto!

You also get something similar to love handles, but the strap goes round a kiddies waist as well as yours then clips you together so you can't drop them off the back. Saw a 6 or 7 year old wearing one at the weekend and it's quite a good idea. Although the law says they need to reach the footpegs, I've always thought minimum age for a child needs to be when you can trust them to hold on properly and not fool about, this strap helps mitigate some of that and give the parents more piece of mind

But then (god forbid) you did come off, surely there are heightened chances you land on your child thus causing more damage because you are attached?

Back when there was a Miss Spiderygirltype thing she came on the bike a few times. Once on the way to the Ace she said "wow it doesnt feel like you were going as fast as you did before" which really suprised me cos we had taken a slight detour and on a private road got it up to a ton!

So i rold her and promised she'd feel different if she could see ahead and what i'll do is get up to speed, tap her leg and then duck down so she can get the wind blast (on my old naked) and see how it looks.

She was not so happy when we got home, lol.
