well yesterday was a bit of a odd and weird one, took the bike out in the afternoon to evening for a long ride to clear my brain box, probably not a good idea from what happened last time but it helps me think, stopped at mates to watch TT highlights then stayed there.
everything has just gone wrong past few months, it has got to the point where yesterday i hit rock bottom |

Been there more than once myself - moreso lately and I wonder WTF I am doing that is so wrong.
I do find that going out on my own on either the bike or the push bike does help and I feel better and more positive when I have done this. When I had a real downer last year my work arranged for me to see someone because work was part, though not all, of the problem. Talking to someone who is totally divorced from the whole situation does help and can get things into perspective. |

As I put earlier, usually I can shake this off, but this time it's just getting worse. It's quite a relief to read the other posts on here and know that I'm not alone with this. So I hope this has helped you too WB. |

I think the essential problem that modern people face is that they work too hard and worry too much about everyone around them.
One thing I have learned is that self indulgence is very therapeutic, take some time out to pamper yourself, if you can't afford a spa, then have a bubble bath soak at home with candles and soft music. Get out and file your nails, apply moisturiser to your skin, do anything you can think of to treat yourself and feel better about yourself....its a selfish act but one that I think has become long forgotten. Discipline yourself to having a daily 'treat' but dont use it as a reward, and certainly don't punish yourself by depriving yourself of it because you feel that you did something to 'not deserve it' Lastly....Don't force yourself to love what you are, who you are or how you look If you don't like something...Change it! Don't make excuses...just do it. |

Sorry to hear this WB. But you're not alone - Ive been feeling a similar way for quite a while and have often wondered whether Im suffering from depression or some kind of breakdown. I have moments where I think Im going to explode with anger and flip out because everything is getting too much.
I've felt really negative and bleak about every aspect of my life, its content and its direction. All too often Ive felt like packing everything in and running away to some far away place and living alone with the bare minimum like some hermit (or crazy lady). I think modern life is just too demanding and too full. Although life is what you make it - sometimes you have no control. You're forced to work 5 days a week in order to survive. You only have a few hours each evening to squeeze in what you want to do and the same can be said for a weekend. Friendships have evolved somewhat as well - alot of stuff is now done by virtual communication (msn/facebook/email) rather than having a good old fashioned face-to-face catch up. When I was in cyprus for a wedding with matt, I really enjoyed being away from all my friends and family, being away from computers/TV's and simply being un-contactable. Its not a nice thing to admit to yourself (or even your friends and family) but you've been brave to speak out and attempt to tackle whatever it is. Unfortunately no-one can give you a firm answer and say "yup you're depressed" or "no you're not". The best person for that is your doctor. Although doctors are often too quick to hand out anti-depressants rather than taking the time to really get to the root cause of the issue and help you work through it. The adivce everyone has given so far is really good and I wont repeat myself because I was only going to suggest the same things. However, having time out to yourself is really important. Maybe writing down one positive thing that happened in your day, every evening, could help you get things in perspective in terms of seeing that things are not as bad as they seem. Even writing a diary of how you feel could help - I know that probably sounds naff and girly, but getting your thoughts down on paper in a freestyle way (writing whatever comes to mind rather than thinking about how to word stuff) can help you organise yourself. Hope you feel better soon and let us know how you get on. Remember we're all here for you to chat to. |
