I tend to agree with the 'The Squid Man' on this one. I'm certainly not perfect with my puntuation, but I try to make my posts understandable. I find it slightly irritating that some people put in very little effort into making their posts readable.

I just assumed some people on the forum have been typing replies on an iPhone whilst riding at 100mph, hence the lack of attention of proper punctuation

And other times i'm just plain lazy and type words like 'probly' instead of 'probably' cos (see i just did it there instead of because) it makes no vital difference to the meaning of my sentance. Small adjustments like that dont get on my nerves as i agree about the point that the language is dynamic and alsways changing.

Also i'm not at school and dont expect those reading my posts to be judging me on the quality of my spelling/punctuation but rather the wieght of my comments.
Is that really such a bad thing?

Furry muff.

But it becomes a problem when everyone reading a carelessly typed post takes 10 times longer to understand it than the amount of time saved by the poster being careless.

If I can't easily read it then it usually gets ignored. If the poster is a persistent offender then the 'ignore poster' button gets put into use. That may mean I'm ignoring some otherwise decent folk, but it's a trade-off I'm willing to make to stop me from stressing.

as long as it's readable then personally i don't care how many ? or ! people use. Language evolves all the time. Better keep up

It doesn't wind me up so much on an internet forum, I'm not that bothered to be honest and this forum is a lot better than some I've seen.

It DOES bother me though when our call centre staff at work use 'txt spk' to log faults / support requests etc - then i hit the f***ing roof because it makes us look like a bunch of retards to the customers!

I can't beleive these sort of things annoy people so much as to even warrant a thread whinge - or even cause stress.

My view - Think of it as a textual smilie

on a comical note, this,,,,,,,,thread changes nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so get over it

Good posts above

I'm now off to update my 'ignore list' . That should save me reading the guff(arguable ) posted by some....

Ben
ps: All grammatical and punctuation errors contained in the above post were intentional

It's not evolution of language, it's plain and simple ignorance.
