Just re read my post and it occurred to me that it sounds like the stabbing killed my horse. It did not. She had over 40 stitches between her eyes and down the front of her nose and a broken nasal bone, but came through it fine.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I don't know if I could have controlled myself if you put the person that did it in the stable with me and I had a knife in my hand. It's quite scary to have that much anger and desire for revenge, but thankfully I calmed down quickly. Now I'd just want the power to give the person a LONG prison sentence and maybe tell the other inmates he was a kiddy fiddler, just to ensure he had a REALLY interesting time in there!

Sadly this is exactly the type of person most police forces dont want. They want people who have no understanding of the law or its application so when they have a breifing before kicking down somone door for example the Sgt running the op can say "we are going in under the terms of x y z Terroist acts" and tell their officers to act with virtual impunity and not have one officer chanllenge him as to the validity of the law being used on the op. If you were a person who understood the law or its application you would challenge him and say "but sarge we have the theft act (for example) that applies here, why are we using anti terror laws? Thats overkill and allows us far more scope for this op than we actually need"

So no, most modern cops have no idea of the law except for what they are told of it by their superiors who only want them to know a limited amount.

So i'm not suprised that one stupid moron of a cop left a dog in car car in the same way i was not suprised by the stupidmoron cops who posted videos and pics of themselves totalling cops cars during chaces and thinking it was a great laugh...and forgetting about he crime that they were meant to be attending to.

Update on the story, the copper was off duty, stopped at the station to pick something up, left his windows down and was in about 10 mins. no different to nipping into a shop for a message which i know i've done. This seems to have been a tragic accident, not neglect or crulety, strange that none of the other 17dogs which died in cars at the weekend made the national news. just another police bashing story i think.

I think its hugely significant that a police dog handler caused the death of two police dogs whatever the rest of the great unwashed numpties may have done over the weekend.Thats not police bashing. What would you suggest?Just not mention it?

Never worked out why its ok to cause pain and suffering to a person because they bought a product from a shop either.

It's like the pro-lifers in the US that kill doctors...

+1 I don't understand how pro-lifers can endorse their argument by killing either.

On topic, sounds like a slow news weekend, we usually start to get these bottom-of-the-barrel stories in August, perhaps a lot of people have gone on holiday early...

Leaving your window down does sweet FA to help a dog in hot conditions in a car. Anyone who has even basic knowledge of animal husbandry knows this. On top of that, a police dog handler should definately know how to take care of his/her dog and so police or not police, the crime is the same and it is a crime. It is cruelty as it is the actions of the human that directly causes the unnecessary suffering of the dog and make no mistake, they really suffer. They hyperventilate as they try and pant to regulate their temperature, they become dehydrated and eventually their core temperature rises to the degree that all the internal organs cease functioning. You could say it was a tragic accident, but unless it was a child that did it (genuinely didn't understand) then I believe it is cruelty.

The very law that the police officer took an oath to uphold says that it is cruelty and in the eyes of the law, as an adult, it is your responsibility to learn about the care of the animals in your care, so they will not accept "accident" in a case like this, just as they wouldn't in the case of a civilian doing the same thing.

The shame is that a lesser trained dog might make a fuss to draw attention to its plight - growl, bark, paw, struggle, etc - but the police dogs would have obediently sat wherever they were told to, probably in silence.

One would hope that police would know better, but obviously not.

Or on the stairs...
I can try, its the only one that came up with a list of products that arent tested on animals and dont use ingredients that are tested on them either, Im not veggie, Im not a PETA supporter, I just like to know that what I use hasn't caused any unnecessary suffering and I agree that some of their causes are a bit over the top, but a lot of animal lovers can be very passionate and get to the stage where anything is fair game...

Just look at the products, you arent endorsing PETA its places like the Co op and M&S that sell them, its merely a list
