Yeah the Bandit 600 didn't really feel much quicker than the GS500 taking into consideration I had to stick to the speed limit in the instructors presence on the 5. Needed plenty of revs to get going and I'd def want to trade up in <6 months. Rode the SV650 yesterday-class bike so much lighter and responsive than the B600. After riding the B1200 & 6 I thought I like this low down grunt from the 12. Not really fair as the 12 is more powerful but the SV felt plenty quick enough. I won't be buying that SV as it's over priced so I'll look at some others which aren't too far away. Still haven't decided over the 12 and SV both had +'s and -'s.

Have had 4 sv's and 1 b12.

b12 is an awesome bike, wheelies like no tomorrow and pulls like a train. Choose it if you're willing to forgo the mpg (town 30-40, faster riding 45) and the fact that they eat rear tyres and chain/sprockets.

Otherwise go for the sv.

Cheers mate. I've heard conflicting reports on the B12 fuel economy, some have said it ain't much worse than a 6 due not having to rev it as hard to get along. I can live with your quoted figures though, I sold my 3.2l V6 to finance this bike purchase and I was lucky to see 20 mpg around town. Waht sort of mileage did you get out of the rubber?

Well i currently have an SV650S and have owned a Bandit 600N. Both bikes are good with the SV being or at least feeling a lot lighter. The Bandit was more comfy though with a better seat and higher bars. I prefer the power delivery of the SV but its obviously not as smooth.

But given the option again i would go for a 1200 or 1250 Bandit. I've been lent a 1250S today whilst mine was serviced and i couldn't believe how much i liked it. It didn't seem as heavy as my old 600 and i was back to the nice comfy riding position. The power was great, it didn't matter which gear you were in the thing just flew. With upright bars i felt more confident filtering through traffic too. I never thought i would need anything as big as a 1200 but i've definately changed my mine .

I need to pop in here more often! Just sold my B12.. after selling my B6 after Sv...
B12 mad. Eats a tire in 2k miles if you have a happy hand, and done about the same miles to a tank as 6 & sv. B6 Deff quicker top end of the rev band than the Sv, But SV was better through not having to change gear every 5 seconds!.. also sounds better lol.
All this don't matter if you have bought the 12 tho.. if you have, it'll get to 95 very quickly in second without lifting the front wheel when you get used to it! (best done on 1/4mile track!)

Enjoy.. I did
