Mine is unplugged now and it still runs and I've ran gods amount of curvys with the tank off too.
Point it out on wiring diagram if you wish but I'm very skeptical. I think you've a very weird fault, or you unplugged something else like the sidestand switch.

Mines a trackbike and the sidestand is shorted out and I dont think you can get confused between the side stand plug and the tank one.

I thought it was strange too but when I looked at the wiring diagram it sort of made sense, when I get a min I'll dig the manual out the garage.

Dont mind if its a fault so long as I can work round it

I hope some people are still subscribed to this thread, especially you Steve!

The reading of 105 you mention above, was that 1.05 volts from the signal generator? That is the reading I got today, with my Clymer manual saying if this reads below 3 volts then you need to replace the signal generator and stator assembly.

Any help would be great, am I right in thinking the signal generator and stator have to be purchased together?

if i think back the reading i was testing was resistance not volts. it must have been correct because as soon as Hovis (RIP) sent me a black box to try i was up and running.

I would go for the box also, i ended up changing the plugs, coils etc and testing everything. Turned out when i was fitting my immobiliser i'd let the box hit the gear lever with the ignition on. It made a spark at the time but i thought nothing of it, i'd blown a component on the black box without realising...
