SK, maybe you could have been a bit more tactful, but I can see where you were coming from mate.

25 years is 1300 weeks, with a minimum of 20 days a year holiday that's down to 1175 weeks. To carry out 20,000 investigations you'd need to be doing them at a rate of 17 investigations per week, or one every two hours or so. Does your average police force get 17 motorbike accidents per week that needs investigation?

The dramatic authoring of the post "that rider was my brother", "that rider was me" does read a hell of a lot like a bit of spam, I was expecting to find "forward this on to 50 friends or you'll have an accident in the next month" written at the bottom.

And it was a bit of a preach too.

Sorry T.C, I think you've posted some great points, but you've also posted some stuff that makes your credibility pretty hard to believe. It may be true that your team at work have carried out 20K investigations, but if that's the case then that's what you should have posted. Be straight with people and don't try to make it something it isn't and you'll get a better reaction IMO.

I know, it's working from home during the day and needing a babysitter to get out at night, sends you a bit stir crazy. If it wasn't p***ing it down I'd have a big adventure and take the dog for a walk.

If someone is pashionate about something they can generally be seen to come on too strong to those that dont really want to hear about it. And due to recent events its prob something altough we are all involved with we could do without hearing right now.
A fortenight ago and I think TC's post would have been well received (although as Ralph said maybe leave out the cheese, in todays world its more inclined to make people turn away than make their jaws drop).

We're not a nasty bunch, and we frequently disagree TC would be a valued member of this forum. His experiance and comments could even help a few of us lesser experianced riders from learning the hard way and isnt that what this forum is about?

I think this could be done more tactfully and with a lot more value through a 'riding tips and pointers' from those who have been riding bigger bikes for a while.

That said, I'b been riding bikes over 600cc for 7 years now and I would never presume to tell someone how to ride, I would like to think I could SUGGEST ways to develop as a rider (and thats not to say I can't learn from other riders too) but it is hard to ride a bike with control and flow, esp when going quicker.

Some of these have been as simple as telling a friend to put his foot on the peg between the ball of his foot and tip toes as I could see he was hugging the bike with his thighs and needed to loosen up a bit, immediate change and he was off!

I know what your saying Gavin, Im just an idealist mate I look at whats infront of me and then try to take it in the best light possible. I like to assume that TC has written/seen those words of his many times and in forums where maybe he had already made a name for himself. So to come here and sugar coat it seemed like a waiste of time, just put it out there and those that are interested will absorb but those that couldnt give a monkies will stop reading after the first paragraph.
TBH I've only ridden on the road for just over 3 years and I know everything he posted about. But for it to come from someone with his CV well it instantly makes the comments more valued.

It can only be a good thing if his words help influence even just one rider into popping to the shops in full gear rather than in shorts and t shirt the day they get t-boned by a cage.
No Post = Skin Grafts, Post = Bruises... result!

Obviously I assume he wasnt saying "OI RIDE IN FULL GEAR!!" more "By reading this you could make a more informed decision about riding PPE"

Peace out.
