I had a similar thing when renovating a house a few years back. In the beginning I just ignored all the letters, then started sending them back with big red marker pen notes saying I dont have a TV. They sent a letter saying a detector had been, so I called them and said the same (no TV). They would not accept it. So I wrote to them and explained that no further contact will be made by me unless its by legal proceedings and that I challenge them to take it further. They never replied and I never heard back...

Depends on your download speed and computer graphics handling I guess. Mine are both pretty rubbish, so I squint and it looks alright

How did the BBC decide that they would be in charge of the license fee... like... how did it come to be that we give them all the cash... Many people use Sky or Virgin, so the BBC content percentage would be lower for them, so why do they still have to pay as much?

£140 is a LOT of money! Why them?

Good programs though..!?

Detector vans, oh dear, if only the technology (short of RFID chipping every set) existed to detect one ever existed. They were advertised to 'scare' people into getting a licence. Having worked for the BBC in the past, they do assume that every address has a TV in it abd anyone stating otherwise is either a liar or mad.

I'd be tempted to take it all the way to court and just show a pile of correspondance showing you tried to tell them you did not have one then sue them for all the stress caused.

Personally I'd go a little insane if I had no t.v. and would end up wearing tweed jackets with leather elbow pads mumbling lines from the Bible at lamp posts. Anyone who knows my secondary school RE teacher can justify my concerns as he too had not television for years (yes tweed and the afore mentioned mutterings).

However, I whole heartedly support your plight & hope those ba****ds stop bothering you.

I only wish I wasn't hooked. Maybe I'd get around to doing all those annoying D.I.Y. projects I keep starting but can never be botherd to finish.

Stick it to da' man.

They're oscillator detectors - it can be done.

The realities of doing so are harder to be exact about.
