Phone the agency again. Tell them that you are recording the conversation and ask them if they want you to risk your life by travelling in these conditions.

With respect ...... posts like this aren't helping him .....

They haven't told him he's got to ride to work .....

They have been blunt .... but they've got a business to run and clients to satisfy, and they need reliable people ... if he hasn't got adequate transportation plans then they probably could do without him ...

If it needed to be a taxi .... a taxi it needed to be .... walking, mountain-bike, bus, train, lift from friend, walking ..... he was niave thinking it wouldn't be a problem, and its a lesson in life learnt .... (IMO of course)

My battery died when I did that. I got to the office after walking the 8 miles to work. Got here, nobody had bothered. Mucho respect to your mother.

Good on your mother part of the old school not the namby pamby lazy people of today. Years ago i walked 10 miles to my job and it was closed when i got there so had to turn round and walk 10 miles home people should make the effort a little bit more

Granada news has a employment solicitor on at the moment so if you can get to the website have a read

ok then i did a 15 hour shift the night before and im expected to get out of bed before trading closes to hire a car? good idea there*
taxi refused to pick me up from my area lack of gritters - too much of a risk for there drivers, buses stopped, too long a walk to get within the range of a taxi.
and one of the managers called me earlier saying that they handled the situation badly and i can go in tonight, they cant stop me working because i ride a bike and it is my only form of transport.

I dont drive a car because the insurance is more than I have as spending money after all my bills go out.
*The car hire companies that i have spoken to have all said i must be 21 or had my licence over a year, and i havent been driving very long.
