Owner? Nah I was just the bloke that made all the money for the owner! The truth is most of these awards are a load of carp (see what I did there? ). The chippie down the road from mine (I started my chippie career at that one) always used to enter the "young fish frier of the year" and TBH I really couldn't be arsed to enter them just because they managed to fry propelry on the few occasions that the judges or whatever came to visit doesn't make them any good. I let my takings do the talking!

How many awards have Harry Ramsdens won? And has anyone actually tried their stuff? When I did it wasn't particulalry good at all.

To this day I still won't get fish and chips from a chippy

oooh white pudding chips and irn bru. Not had that for about 15 years. Used to go to wee chippie in Markinch. Never found white pudding over the west but they deep fried my pizza which I found a bit strange, the deep fried cream egg on the other hand was wonderful. Must get a white pudding this summer when up in God's country. DD you can just stand outside chippy

Forgot that you were almost a Kirkcaldy lass. The best chippies in Kdy for years were Valenties on Overton Road or on the Valley Gardens/Hendry Rd roundabout.

One of my Grandmothers lived in Winifred St and the other in Christie Place, so both were within spitting distance of one of those two chippies.

I have, we've got one in Weegie Central. For sit down fish and chips, bread and butter, nice cup of tea, pictures after, it can't be beat.

But if I just want a chippy I go to the Night Star in Netherlee, same as Shonadoll. It's 7 miles closer and tastes the same.

The original HR was in or near Ramsbottom and I didn't rate that all that highly and this was before they became "Famous"

Sally are you forgetting the Hungry Highlanders "wee" fish? Now there's a chippy that does it right, and always good for a bike run.

Carry on

Cheers
