describes them perfectly, they're ruthless little buggers. Attractive fish an they can brighten up a community tank, the only thing the shop keep wont tell you is that they brighten it up with the remains of your other fish.

They were suspected of killing fish in a friends tank, so he gave his to me (my tank was already over populated) I fugured if its there fish which are the culprit then fine, we'll find out soon enough an if I loose a couple of fish in the process then it'll be a favour in disguise. A few days past before I lost any fish but then over night the gits took chunks out of about a dozen different fish as if deciding which one they should feast on wasnt impressed all dozen died and so the Kribs were introduced to a jug of boiling water.

Had to do a search for this thread again, and what a good one it is to!

Just a quick question, Ive ended up buying some mollies, notices four babies appear and got a separate tank for them (floats inside the main tank with water filtering through it via slots and holes etc).

Just not sure what to put in this little box? Should I put some sort of plant in it? Stones? Obviously I dont want it sinking to the bottom but its very empty in it right now with just 4 tiny fish in a box thats about 6 inches by 3 inches...

Thanks in advance!

P.s. im feeding them just crushed up flakes at the moment, is this enough?

I know the type of fry tank your on about, it has 2 voids at either end to act as boyancy. Then there is also a loose floor in the bottom with more slots in.

I use mine to put fish in if they seem a little ill sort of a quarantine from teh nipping of other fish.
As for feeding the baby mollies, just feed them the same thing as you do the adults... only less an you'll be fine

time for a new internal filter for me

Currently looking at the Fluvel U3 or the Eheims. Any suggestions? Tank is roughly 130l if I remember correctly.

I've always favoured the fluval. I'd always get more than enough filter power where possible, 130l isnt a tiny tank so I recon go for the u4 and you'll be able to stock the tank a bit more, plus keep the water cleaner.

Saying that is an external filter totally out of the question?

When we bought ours we were recommended the Eheim, because they guarantee if they discontinue a filter, that they'll make spares for it for 10 years even if they dont make it anymore. So if you have a problem you dont end up shelling out for a new filter.

You all seem to know your stuff and also have huge tanks compared to my 48ltr tank... (which I thought was a good size when I bought it!).

I may have to upgrade at some point but dread the cleaning on a 130ltr one....

Im currently crushing up the flakes in to a kind of powder as then cant handle large pieces. Good news is they are all still alive and yes, that tank you mentioned matt, is the exact tank, although I took out the false floor 'V' bit because they kept getting stuck in the bottom part.

Was just really wondering if there should be any kind of plant life in the little tank? Would they get any kind of nutrients from it? I have two in the tank anyway, so the nutrients in in the water anyway i guess?

In my experience, a larger tank is easier to keep and doesn't really take much more
work.
