I think pretty much all helmets available on the market are going to protect your head in a collision as long as they fit properly. Which is why when I went for my fist helmet I got a pretty cheap one (X-lite 601 £120) and when I did need to use it, (pheasant on the noggin at 80) it saved me from serious injury.

When I bought my second helmet Arai Chaser (cost me £250 but rrp is £370) I decided to go for a more expensive lid not because I thought it would protect me better in a crash but because it has a more streamlined shape, better ventilation and is more comfortable.

My 2p is if your only concern is how it will fair in a crash as long as it fits get the cheapest you can. However if you want to wear your helmet for hours on end at high speed spend a bit more and go for the features that will increase comfort.

My first Helmet was £99 Caberg one and it felt like £99 truely awful but I was learning but and I would never by another Caberg. Next Helmet was an AGV X Vent very nice and plush, then a Arai Quantum F not as nice as the AGV, then an OGK F4 a bit like the AGV but not as plush and finally AGV Ti Tech best helmet to date.

Gonna stick with AGV as the seem to fit my head better, the expensive ones have all the bells and whistles on and are light too. I dont look at the Sharp test anything recommended by the Goverment cant be a good thing

AGV tend to score well - the Ti Tech gets 4 stars, the cheaper S4 gets 5.
