Be advised that if you do go down the van route you will end up taking your entire collection of motorcycling paraphenalia with you, as "There's space". By having a trailer it limits the amount of carp you end up taking and means when you roll up to the paddock you can unload in 3 minutss and go and have a cuppa. Unloading the van takes about three hours becasue of all the "extras" you decided to bring!

Car, trailer bike, gennie, warmers, spare wheels and tool kit

Versus something that looks like a GP grid if you own a van

DD mentioned the speed limit of a trailor but also be aware that vans over two tons max laden weight also have different speed restrictions.
i.e. a 15cwt short wheelbase has a different speed limit to a 35cwt long wheelbase and I would presume you were considering a long wheelbase

-A decent twin wheel box trailor is a much cheaper option. Usually a lower load height and you still have the use of the car while at the track

I have a very simple trailer and can get the bike on it and strap it down on my own. It just comes down to preparation and practice.

Just to clear up the speed limit difference. Also remember a trailer is not allowed in the outside lane of a 3 or more lane motorway.

Van option is pretty much dead.

After phoning around a few companies seems that I'm too young to have a van as they seem to assume that I'm pretty much guaranteed to ram-raid the nearest shop!

4yrs car no claims, 1yrs bike no claims, live in a crime-free area, never claimed on anything, no points/convictions, est 3k mileage, van value £1000....and the cheapest possible premium is £862.88. Joke.

Just a thought: With you being a "Young-un" do you have trailer entitlement on your licence? You might have to add it. It was removed a while back from the standard entitlements when you passed your car test.
