Have ya noticed that most of the people who have replied negatively about christmas cards are male? Perhaps we need another poll, who sends, men or women?

I'm fairly traditional in some respects...well the only respect being christmas cards...I've sent mine out already. I have a few friends who always send me them and it's just one of those things you end up doing. In fact, I'll be honest and say I haven't actually ever thought about not doing it and doing something better with the money I'm a real bah humbug person really but I do think for the amount of effort it takes to write them out once a year and for the good feeling they get when they're opened, it's worth it. I've sent more this year than I ever used to, mainly because most of my friends are far away, don't give out many local ones...

I'm an opportunistic atheist, I'll eat, drink, be merry and accept presents.

No cards from me, although I'll get people I like presents, not from a religious POV, but because it's nice to do this once in a while, and Christmas, Xmas, Chrimbo or Pagan tree erecting festival or whatever you want to call it seems to be a regular reminder to do such an act.

PS I believe presents existed before 0 AD in the modern calendar......

I told a relative about my wife leaping from an aeroplane on a tandem skydive, accompanied by her 80 year old mum - I thought it was worth writing to people about, and I believe the people I told will think likewise. Admittedly the seasonal 'round robin' can sometimes lower things to a sort of 'bragging war' but I guess it all depends on your POV and exactly what you want to tell people about.

Was just going to say, I don't but my wife does.
But same thing as they are from both of us.
So yes then.

I always send out home made cards. This year I sent out 40, in previous years it has been as many as 80-100. This year some went to America, Germany, Netherlands and Canada - to friends I haven't seen so recently.
The small person gave out about half a dozen to her friends at school.

I like receiving cards, it's nice to know that someone took the time to think of you, and send you a card.

I always recycle the cards I receive, either by making new cards, gift tags or just putting them in the charity recycle box at the supermarket.

So I reckon I've got about 50 years left from my tree...

I never send cards for two reasons

1. It's a waste of money and I'm tight
2. I'm too lazy to actually buy, write and send them.

To be honest, now with most local authorites having blue bins or blue boxes or whatever for card etc, its now really easy to lazily recycle, so i think, in the past couple of years, and with more to come, more cards are now being recycled.

I made some cards this year with the aid of file dividers (for card) and pipe cleaners. Hilarious
