There's not much logic to that... British banks fails and go bust (or get bought by the goverment ), Spanish banks are very stable.

Abs - RBS still own Natwest, however have had to sell their Natwest Branches in Scotland, and RBS branches in England - I know as I am working on some of the projects connected to the sale at the moment

I've had internet banking with Abbey/Santander for years and never a problem. I have recently accessed my account from:

Windows XP running IE6 (work)
Windows XP running IE8 (my old PC at home)
iMac running Safari and Firefox (new machine at home)

In fact, their internet banking is one reason I haven't shifted my account (I like the idea of ethical banking with the Co-op).

However, I will say that they are a load of dog-poop at dealing with closing accounts following berevement (my experience mirrors that of countless others judging by a 'net search). NatWest were head and shoulders above the other banks in this regard to the point that I might move my accounts there in 20 years to save my kids any grief!!
