I rarely have my clear visor on my helmet these days but then I'm only a fair weather rider. If its a bit murky out ill use my clear visor with a tinted pinlock. But when I used to commute i would carry my clear one in a visor pouch, it also had a couple of strips of electrical tape across the top of to stop glare. Strapped around my waist it never got in my way. I bought Kitkat a new helmet last year and got her a gradient visor as she didn't want a dark visor

Hence the yellow (Persimmon is the Oakley word for it) lenses on my Flak-Jackets

Excellent at night as they cut the glare from headlights too.

Has anyone been stopped and asked by a police officer to show that you have the clear visor on your person when youve got tinted fitted?

Ive been riding for about 15 years and using tinted visors for just about as long. I have never been stopped for a dark visor and never asked if i've got a clear one with me.

I use a road legal light tint on my arai chaser, ive rode in the dark with it, its not too bad tbh.
I do carry a clear visor sometimes when i can be bothered, its a faff imo.
I might invest in a darker visor at some point or carry on using sunglasses under my light tinted one.

I've used a yellow tint visor before. The issue I found with them at night is on unlit roads, depth perception was lost. In other words, I couldn't judge distances properly. Especially with on coming headlights. They are fine so long as the road is lit. Get through back roads and it all gets a little bit unnerving.

I said this earlier but it seems to have been missed. It's possible to buy pinlock tinted visors which do not leave any gaps for the sun to get through. They are called race pinlock visors. Exactly the same as the normal ones except they go further up, not leaving a gap for the sun to get through. Solves the problem of the OP I think.

hmmm interesting comments folks.

dp i borrwed yc's yellow visor a while back and it scared the crap outta me! everyhting was fine till i went through lots of oncomming traffic and i could see jack all! i really like the idea but in reality it didnt work for me.

The pinlock idea is good (the race pinlock) but one of the problems ive got is i have 40 quids woth of pinlock inserts here that got scratched to buggery after their first outing due to me storing them in the packet they came in!
