The wider A roads are my preference tbh and what I consider 'good' roads.
I wouldn't enjoy those country lanes on the Daytona either, mainly because they are too bumpy and are not comfortable on a road bike.

I was thinking more of the likes of the Market Harborough to Uppingham road, countryside B roads,

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...,0.209255&z=13

you can see on streetview, it's wide enough for two trucks to pass, and the surface is not as bumpy as a country lane, but it's not wide enough to fit on the SLOW lettering without going over the side line. And of course where you have a lesser population, you have less traffic. That's my favourite type of road in the summer and that's what I mean by tighter and twistier. I winter I prefer the wide A roads because the tighter ones tend to be covered in mud.

That said I've never been a fan of doing 90-100+ mph on the road like people do down the A423 from the Long Itch, maybe why I prefer smaller roads, you can get the thrill without the speed.

I hadn't even thought of a route etc, just tested the water to see who was gonna venture out.
What time we all thinking of meeting?, I especially don't wanna travel that distance if were not meeting until 11 or 12.
I prefer to go out earlier and get back earlier.
I'd prefer to meet at around 9 ish, I find any later and the day seems to disappear too quickly. Does 9am seem okay?

Just need to decide which route to do really. Anybody else got any thoughts?
