Thugs and hooligans. I have no sympathy for any. Where were the baton rounds?
Thing is though Tim, if they had used baton rounds they would have been criticised or it may have escalated things. Water cannon sounds a great idea though. Bet that stings!

I'm in favour of the idea of water cannons with UV or similar dye... spray them all, then go pick them up when it's quietened down.

We need water canons in this country we really do. But we cant hurt the poor littel rioters can we. This country sucks when it comes to acceptable force.

Personally, I think we should just send in Jedi Dave. They'd think twice if they'd been DP'd.....

Theresa Clarke has said if the police want to use water canons MP's will not stand in their way (of the police not the canon), so it seems its at their discretion. My bet would be that they were not aware of that until she returned from her holiday this morning. All a bit late perhaps but get it on standby for tonight i say

Talking of Theresa Clarke, she's getting a bit ahead of herself isnt she. Coming back from holiday early before Ed Miliband has had the chance to call for her to come back!

Yes she's making all the right noises but is being sabotaged by the hand wringers under her that run the show that screw it up and will make sure we never see water cannon, too un PC!!

EG: see her comments about abolishing targets so the local commanders simply renamed targets to something else and carried on as normal!

That Duggan dude was obviously no choir boy, you are not placed under surveilance for consistantly riding two up on a push bike. I do feel that perhaps the press lit the touch paper with their reporting that he was shot twice in the head. That does ring as execution tbh. I very much doubt that is what happened. He was definitely taken out and if he had first fired on Police Officers then he got what was due.

There is never justification for what has gone on in Tottenham etc over the past nights. The culprits will be largely disaaffected younger people who do not need much of an excuse to act outrageously.

What I find amazing is the almost slow motion casual manner that some of the looting has been carried out, youngsters, teenagers, adults both men and women. Strolling along loaded up to the gills with stolen property. As if it was their right! Incredible.
