Hell yes! I love the way it looks now with the cowl instead of the eyesore seat!

I got my cowl bloody cheap, had been watching loads sell for £50+ with postage on top, then spotted mine on ebay, made a cheeky offer and he accepted! Tbh, I wasnt even sure it was the right colour blue, so was fully expecting to repaint it, but match is absolutely spot on, and it was in far better condition than i expected to boot
Definately one of my best ebay purchases i reckon!

Haha cheers

Have done loads of bits since i last posted here. Got around the swingarm bobbin problem.... by buying an ABBA stand

Did everything i needed to do to the bike, and passed my mod 1 and 2 first attempt, so been riding now for almost 3 weeks, LOVE the SV, have had to sort out tyres, rear shock preload, and still have front suspension to sort out, but the bike is still FAR more capable than me, so its not a major issue for the immediate future!

Also got round to stubbying my can, didnt like the way it poked out further than the tyre, so i got busy with the hacksaw and 1hr later had this: ( REALLY need to get a new camera though eh!)

Put badge back on shortly after that was taken but dont have a pic at mo.

How did you stubby your can? Mine sticks out just a few cm past the tail of the bike, id like to take ~10cm off!

Trying to post a pic but cant for some reason!

Now i cant guarantee your internal arrangement will be the same as Mine was on a Scorpion can, but in principle it should be the same process.... But i am hereby shirking all responsibility if you **** it up!

How to stubby a can:

1. Mark can where you want to cut it to.
2. Remove can from bike.
3. Use masking tape or similar to give you a straight edge around the can where you want to cut it.
4. Drill out the rivets holding the Tail pipe end Cap - Dont remove just yet.
5. Hacksaw through the outer of the can.
6. Remove end cap and section of can you just cut.
7. using sharp serrated knife, cut through wadding and steel wool and remove.
8. Cut through internal pipe.
9. Refit end cap
10. Rivet clamp back on
11. Done!

You could go hillbilly on it, follow steps 1-4 and then just chop straight through the lot and jump to step 9, but i chose to do it step by step so as to minimise any damage if i got anything wrong!

You can if you follow it step by step nice and slow, except you will have to remove both end caps, as the inner pipe is tack welded in place at the link end. This means if you cut it at the link end, it will rattle around - Not good!

So you will cut from other end carefully around the can, just going through the metal. Then remove both end caps, and measure the inner pipe against the length you want the can, then chop that from the non welded tailpipe end.

Hope that makes sense!

With my scorpion, i carefully prised the badge off, and restuck it back on when i was finished #

Although... looking at that pic, is your badge Riveted on? if so, just drill it out and re rivet it!
