The examiner was on it when I was tested last year. It tried to undress itself on the M56 "high speed riding" section! Half the fairing tried to come off! The poor bloke was trying to keep up whilst holding the panel on with his leg!

Weird. This one has 48K miles on it and has held together quite well considering it's been dropped a few times each side (The previous owner was a very famous championship winning racing jockey, so he has even stumpier legs than mine). None of the panels are hanging off, all of them still line up and all the fixings are still attached. I'd hazard a guess that someone didn't screw GMP's back together again properly after servicing because I regularly do eek mph on mine and nothing's come close to falling off yet.

Lozzo, I don't think you can do anything about it. My first DAS test was cancelled as the examiner had someone pull out on him. He was a police rider, impecible postioning and anticipation, 6'5'' in dayglo vest, white helmet with fluorecent stripe, on a Pan European with fluorecent and reflective strips and headlight on - and the driver said they didn't see them on a main road. The examiner said he had made eye contact with them but they just went!!

It's easy to analyse after the event but even with all the training and spiddy sense sometimes you just have to accept there was nothing more you could do and sometimes someone will try and kill you and you have to hope its your lucky day. But as you say, you can't do 5mph everywhere. I know regulars on here have posted before about being nervous about being pulled out on and as with everything in life you have to balance risk with reward.

Glad you're OK mate

Oh, feck it....

There was a side turning and you didn't anticipate somebody pulling out of it?
Collisions like this don't have to be unavoidable you know.
You really should consider joining the IAM.

Well done for keeping it upright BTW
ive just been reading through this to find that!

Well done for staying on mate!

I had someone pull out on me this morning, they spotted me and put on the brakes as they were half way across the road, fortunately I'd pretty much guessed he was going to do it so managed to swerve around him quite easily. Still, goes to prove that sometimes people just don't see you even when they look!

If I was an IAM member I'd still be debating in my head whether I should have pressed the horn button before or after doing a lifesaver just before hitting the side of the car.

Pete nearly got taken out on two roundabouts tonight, whilst banked over.
Considering he has half of wembley stadium floodlights strapped to the front of his bike, people still don't seem to notice.
He was in the middle lane, and someone decided to drift across to the inside lane giving Pete nowhere to go other than hope nobody was too close in the outside lane said numpty had forced from.

This is however Oldham, which sits somewhere close to Bradford in the list of 'places most likely to be rammed off the road, by some bloke driving his car like Simba the elephant'

Tiz the season for it Lozzo, time to get out the baseball bat from down yer boots to fend em off!!
